Carrie Adams is the founder and principal of CAPR, a digital-first PR firm specializing in aggressive digital tactics for progressive social change.
Most recently, Carrie Adams directed Meta’s Programs & Partnerships bipartisan national team, leading the company’s efforts to ensure that Members of Congress, the federal government, civic influencers, and advocacy organizations harness Meta’s Family of Apps to the height of their potential and begin to explore the metaverse. She personally managed the federal Democratic portfolio, including the Biden White House, the House, and the Senate. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Carrie led the company’s partnership with HHS, NIH, CDC, and the Surgeon General, including partner activation, policy development, and creative campaigns.
Carrie has been a guest lecturer, keynote speaker, and expert panelist for major companies, national advocacy groups, international conferences, and top-tier universities, including The Yale Campaign School, The University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy, Microsoft, Netroots, American University, VotoLatino, The National Breast Cancer Coalition, The Lincoln Initiative, Progressive Security Corps, and others.
Before joining Meta, Carrie served as deputy digital director for Senate Democratic Leader Charles E. Schumer, heading up long term planning, staff training, and web development for Leader Schumer and the Senate Democratic Caucus. In the summer of 2016, she orchestrated digital content for the Democratic National Convention Committee in Philadelphia, directing over two dozen nationally-recognized creative professionals to produce the most digitally integrated convention in history.
Prior to that, she served as digital director for then-House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, where she spearheaded digital strategy, graphic design, and digital messaging for Leader Pelosi and the House's 188 Democrats. Previously, she served as senior advisor and digital director for the late Congresswoman Louise M. Slaughter, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Rules. She also served as communications director for Congresswoman Barbara Lee. During her time on the Hill, Carrie led and championed the Democratic Digital Academy, a skills-based, selective, 6-week boot camp for Hill staffers to help hone digital tactics and skills.
In the digital sphere, Carrie specializes in organic content optimization, account security, and elections integrity. In the creative content realm, she executes analytics-based strategies that incorporate comprehensive design skills and dynamic photography to create platform-specific content that has hastened growth, visibility, and engagement for the nation's top Democratic politicians. Additionally, as senior advisor for the House Rules Committee, she handled Congresswoman Slaughter's legislative portfolio surrounding poverty and income inequality, working with community groups Rochester, NY (Carrie’s hometown), national advocacy organizations, and think tanks in Washington to find solutions for our nation's poverty crisis.
Her writing skills range from stump speeches to parliamentarian debate. Her ghostwriting can be found in outlets from USAToday to The New York Times. She is the winner of two Congressional Management Foundation Gold Mouse Awards, one for social media excellence and one for website design. She is also a co-founder of the Democratic Digital Communications Staff Association, a bicameral effort.
Carrie is a native New Yorker, holds a bachelor’s in government from the College of William & Mary and a master's in political management from the George Washington University. She is a hot yoga aficionado, loves indie films, and lives in DC with her rescue beagle, Gidget.
